Former Trump deputy assistant, Fleitz: Albania is viewed positively in the US,

Former deputy assistant to US President Donald Trump, Fred Fleitz, commented today on the US decision to suspend visas for 75 countries around the world, including Albania.

On A2 CNN, Fleitz said that Albania is not seen as part of a risk list, as it is a friendly country and ally of the United States.

According to Fleitz, sanctions are a means to penalize those individuals involved in drug or terrorist activities, describing them as measures that should be reviewed periodically.

"Albania is an ally and friend of the US and we have discussed this in the context of the justice system. For this reason, Albania is also viewed positively in President Trump's White House. This is relevant, since you have Ambassador Grenell and you also have the attention of the President himself, who is very interested in promoting economic relations with the country. I think and believe that Albania is in a very good situation with President Trump. This has been and continues to be a very heated debate. I think that sanctions are an important tool to penalize individuals who are involved in drug or terrorist activities. I also think that we should periodically review how effective these measures have been against individuals in the Balkans who have committed crimes, especially crimes against humanity. These measures should be reviewed periodically", Fleitz said. /CNA
