Threatening language and calls for violent actions in the campaign / Here's

The electoral campaign for the May 11 elections has officially started since April 11. This campaign has so far been mainly characterized by ironic, mocking tones or "diss" with each other.

There have also been several sporadic incidents, where a person was arrested for vote buying or the loss of the CEAZ seal in Dropull.

This situation, let's say calm so far, has not been that common in past election campaigns, which have had threatening tones towards opponents.

We recall here that in the 2021 elections, the president of the time, Ilir Meta, declared that anyone who touched a vote would have their hands cut off and would be arrested.

Or statements from other people who said that MPs should be dragged out of office.

But what does the law provide for cases where threatening language is used or calls for violent actions are made?

Referring to Article 223 of the Criminal Code, persons who publicly call for violent actions are punished with a fine of up to 3 years in prison.

" Article 223

Public calls for violent actions "Calls made publicly to commit violent acts against the constitutional order are punishable by a fine or imprisonment for up to three years ," the Criminal Code states.
