The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has expressed reservations about the attitude of the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, after the election of new mayors in the municipalities of northern Kosovo.

Berisha said in an interview with Alba Alishan that the elections in the north of Kosovo were not democratic.

Regarding the clashes with the protesters when the new mayors wanted to go to their offices, he stated that Kurti should not have sent the police armored vehicles to the north.

 "The Government of Kosovo has the indisputable right to establish law and order in the 4 corners of the territory. A coordination of actions with KFOR, EULEX and EU and USA had to be done. You cannot blame Albin Kurti for the legitimacy of his actions. You must be transparent with partners. Kurti speaks rightly about the democratic Republic. The elections were democratic, but the product of the elections was not a democratic success. The law was enforced. From the moment they went in armored police cars, it was not the way to inaugurate elected governors. The legal electoral process did not succeed, but failed. Then, with the partners who supported the process, a choice had to be found for the functioning of the representatives until the new elections.

I think that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Kosovo to coordinate efforts to de-escalate and find a legal solution. I found that these were accepted by Osmani and Kurti. The issue of deadlines cannot be a major problem", stressed Berisha./ CNA.al
