Cannabis is a real danger that most teenagers are exposed to at one time or another.

Scientists at King's College have found that 16 and 17-year-old girls are three times more likely to become addicted to cannabis than adults. The study monitored 274 people who used cannabis about four times a week. 76 people belonged to the age group of 16 to 17 years while 71 people were 26-29 years old.

The researchers found that teenagers who smoked cannabis were three and a half times more likely to be addicted than adults. As young people's brains are developing and this affects their addiction to harmful substances.

"Cannabis addiction is a real problem that teenagers should be aware of, as they seem to be much more vulnerable to it than adults," said one of the scientists.

If a teenager consumes cannabis regularly he will gradually get used to the effects it produces, and then a tolerance to the effects of cannabis will develop. Over time, the brain will begin to seek even more of the narcotic substance, which leads to even greater consumption of cannabis./ CNA.al
