'The Godfather'/ Famous actor dies

James Caan, the American actor known for his role as Sonny Corleone in the movie "The Godfather", has died at the age of 82.

The news was announced by the family in a tweet from the actor's official account:

" It is with great sadness that we inform you of Jimmy's passing. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect our privacy during this difficult time."

With a 60-year career he became a titan in the film industry. One of his most prominent roles was in the popular film 'The Godfather' where the actor played the role of the eldest son. Other notable roles during his career include films like Brian's Song, Cinderella Liberty, The Gambler, etc.

Among Caan's many accolades are four Golden Globe nominations, along with nominations from the Academy Awards and Emmy Awards. He was also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978. /CNA.al
