English actor Jonathan Bailey, who plays Viscount Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton, has been named 'Sexiest Man Alive' for 2025 by People magazine.
Such a title is a great honor, but Bailey himself called it complete nonsense and is glad that his loved ones are learning about it.
Bailey became the first openly gay man to be named Sexiest Man Alive, which sparked discussions about his open identity and his talent.
Who is Jonathan Bailey?
He is 37 years old. Born in 1988 in Wallingford, England. Since childhood he dreamed of becoming an actor: at the age of 5, he decided to pursue acting, and at the age of 7 he got his first role during auditions for the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of A Christmas Carol in Prose at the Barbican Theatre in London. In 2004 he made his feature film debut, appearing in the film Five Children and It. His first major screen role came in the 2009 BBC sitcom 'On the Hook', which told the story of a group of first-year students.
Success at Bridgerton and further career
Since 2020, Bailey has starred in the Netflix series "Bridgerton". His performance received positive reviews from critics and gained widespread recognition. The second season, centered around his character, became one of the most popular English-language series on Netflix at the time. This role would bring him worldwide fame.
In 2023, Bailey starred in the Showtime miniseries "The Travelers", for which he received an Emmy Award nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. In 2024, he played the role of Fiyero in the fantasy musical film 'Wicked: The Enchantress' (2004), which is based on the titular musical, and reprised the role in 2025. /CNA
