Survey reveals worrying willingness: 43% of Americans would split from partner

If someone offered you $1 million to break up with your partner, what would you do? For 43% of Americans, the answer is simple: they would take the money and leave.

This (disturbingly honest) answer is just one of the revealing statistics of a survey conducted for an online encyclopedia that sheds light on a society where emotional and moral integrity seems to have a... "price."

40% say they would be willing to accept $33 million even if it meant someone else would be completely financially ruined.

Another 46% say they would consider it, depending on who is being destroyed.

Does love have a price?

The survey reveals a disturbing willingness among Americans to compromise for money, and not necessarily much. 81% would publicly defame for $33 million. But even for $1 million, nearly half would do it. More shocking? 13% say they would do it for $5,000 or less. And 4%... for just $500.

In addition to giving up the love of their life, 41% would give up sex forever. 15% would accuse a friend of a false crime. 59% would live without technology, away from the grid.

Are there any restrictions?

Although money seems to have great persuasive power, some people seem to set limits: 21% would not accept the million if it meant saying goodbye to social media. Another 54% would reject the offer if their parents were in control of the money, while 38% would hesitate if they knew that even their "worst enemy" would win.

Where would they spend the millions?

It's also interesting how Americans envision the future. 57% would buy a house, an indication that homeownership has now taken on the value of a dream. 14% would give gifts first to friends and relatives, while 84% would also donate a portion to charity, mainly for the homeless, health and animals./CNA
