This Friday morning, the continuing phase of the work of the Swiss-Albanian team for archaeological discoveries in the prehistoric site, in Lin i Pogradec, has started. This EU project aims to highlight the archaeological values ??located in the village of Lin, with old objects showing that this area is of exceptional importance. The stilt dwelling discovered in this village is confirmed as the oldest of this archaeological type in Europe, with an age of about 8 thousand years.

Swiss archaeologist Albert Hafner says they want to find out how people lived around the lake, pointing out that this settlement dates back to 6,000 years before Christ, while confirming that there are 2,000 years of settlement activity. He considers it an extraordinary discovery as it is the oldest in Europe in terms of settlements in lake areas.

"We want to find out how people lived around the lake here. The settlement is 8000 years old, so 6000 years BC and we can now confirm that we have 2000 years of settlement activity here in Lin. This typology of archaeological sites for the Alpine area is part of the world heritage of UNESCO and there are very few underwater settlements and it was the first to become part of the world heritage list. The same applies here with this discovery where it is worth saying that only in the sites where we have wood conservation can be applied. some techniques of dendrochronology so these are rare sites. We can already confirm what we said about the discovery and we intend to apply dendrochronology for more details It's an incredible discovery."

From the study of numerous objects that have been found by the research of the joint expedition between Swiss and Albanian archaeologists, the hypothesis of a year ago raised by the latter was confirmed. Among the objects on display in Lin are a variety of ceramic objects, as well as two bone rings, a flint knife and a young human skeleton.

The leader of the expedition, Adrian Anastasi, says that in these four weeks they have concentrated on the excavations on the ground, while the new one is on the archaeological material discovered.

"It is the continuation of last year. In these 4 weeks, we have concentrated on the excavations on the ground because we had followed the excavations of the previous year. The new lies in the archaeological material discovered, in the championships we took where we had and our scientific goals. Of course in this project being very detailed in terms of laboratory analysis. It is fast in the view of the new ones, since we always get the results either at the end of the year or the next year, but we are satisfied with the progress. , with the potential demonstrated by these excavations that we did in the ground, so we are very optimistic, waiting for these analyzes for new data.

There are ceramics that reflect the news of this year, there are archeological objects such as that lance you saw made of flint. So there are details, it is the finding of part of a skeleton of a new person, which will also be studied."

The discovered objects shed light on the social and economic side of the early inhabitants who lived in the Lin village settlement. The Swiss-Albanian cooperation for 4 years now, through this expedition, has focused on the settlement of Lini, extending this season the underwater research to discover other objects that will provide very important research data./ CNA
