Korça opens the tourist season with the Carnival Festival

Today, Korça officially opens the tourist season with the most special activity of the summer, the International Carnival Festival.

The southeastern city organizes for the 17th year in a row the carnival, a traditional celebration of this city, which brings a fantastic atmosphere to Korça.

Carnival troupes from Albania and other European countries will come together in this celebration to give the city a different look and full of excitement.

Participating groups will perform along the main boulevards of the city, while the climax of the party will be in the Old Market of Korça.

The 28 participating groups will present their fables, giving the citizens of Korça, local and foreign tourists, an electrifying atmosphere full of emotions.

The message of fables will be given by 22 groups from Korça and 6 groups from Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.

This weekend, Korça will host thousands of visitors who will attend this magnificent activity which has become a tradition in the southeastern city, turning into the most sensational celebration.

The activity will start at 18:30, first with the parade in the streets of the city, and then it will continue during the evening from 20:00 onwards, in the Old Market of Korça.

Irina Treska: "The fable is related to white and black. I'm dressed in white like an angel but I have black arms because in Rin Show I was part of the Greek gods. I chose Nemesis and I'm different from the others. It's the first time that I'm part of the Carnival. I think it's a nice experience and I especially like the children who come and ask for photos."

Leonidas Skopelitis (Greece): "We are Greek. Today we present Xanthi, the most beautiful city in Greece. Come and join us. We are dressed like pigs, because we have very beautiful clothes to wear. Korça is a very beautiful city and yes We are very pleased. It's our first time in Albania. We will 100% return."/ CNA
