The Traffic Police of Tirana has increased controls in order to increase road safety parameters in the capital.  

Special importance has been given to identifying and punishing those drivers who use the lanes dedicated to public transport vehicles, ambulances, fire engines or taxis, those who use mobile phones while driving or do not wear their seat belts.

Increased controls also for those drivers who drive at speed or drive under the influence of alcohol or in a drunken state and those who perform speed races.

•During the past week, the Traffic Police of Tirana hit 5 cases of attempts to bribe Police employees, in order to avoid the administrative measure for the committed violation.

• 23 people were arrested for driving while drunk or without a driving license, bribery and other violations.

• 46 driving licenses were suspended, for driving under the influence of alcohol, for speeding beyond the permitted rates and for other violations of the Traffic Code. 

• 7 vehicles were blocked, due to lack of documentation or with foreign license plates, which were passed to the Section against Illegal Traffic in Tirana DVP for further verification.     

The Traffic Police of Tirana thanks the road users who follow the traffic rules and invites citizens to report any illegality to the number 112 and to the Digital Police Station.
