The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra has completed the investigations and has sent the defendant, citizen EH, to trial for the criminal offense of "Armed Robbery", attempted, committed in collaboration.

The 35-year-old is suspected of the attempted robbery of a jewelry store in Shkodra, an event that occurred on November 13, 2012.

This citizen was arrested in May of last year in Spain, as a result of cooperation with Spanish partners, finalizing the coordinated operation "Capital".

Although it has been about 9 months since his arrest, the 35-year-old has not yet been extradited to Albania, due to his marriage to a French citizen and 3 young children.

Albanian and French authorities are continuing work on the extradition to Albania of the suspected perpetrator of the attempted armed robbery.

The Shkodra Prosecutor's Office, in its announcement, announces that the personal security measure "Arrest in prison" has been imposed on him and procedures for the extradition of this citizen are ongoing in cooperation with French judicial authorities and Interpol.

The prosecution adds that from the investigations conducted in cooperation with the Shkodra police and Europol in the framework of criminal proceedings no. 1213, of 2012, it was possible to prove that, on 13.11.2012, at around 14:25, in the place called the “Fahri Ramadani” neighborhood, in the city of Shkodra, citizen EH, together with two other unidentified accomplices, masked and armed with firearms, attempted to steal the jewelry owned by citizen M.Ç. In that attempted theft, the owner's brother, citizen R.Ç. The 35-year-old, before being arrested, was declared internationally wanted after the resumption of investigations by the Shkodra police.

Based on these investigations, in February 2024, the Shkodra Court of Appeals ordered this citizen to be placed in prison for the criminal offenses of “Armed Robbery”, attempted, committed in collaboration, and “Illegal Possession and Production of Weapons, Explosive Weapons and Ammunition”. Four months after being declared wanted, in May 2024, it became possible to arrest him in Spain.

The 35-year-old has never entered Albanian territory since 2012, when he left Albania, staying in France.

He risks a sentence of 10-20 years in prison, and if his extradition is not achieved, the trial will continue in absentia.
