The participation of the director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA) of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, in the international security conference in Moscow does not contribute to the credibility and readiness of the European Union to work with someone like him, a Brussels official told Radio Free Europe (REL).

Asked to comment on this visit, EU spokesman Peter Stano recalled the reaction to the meeting held on May 23 between Milorad Dodik, president of the Republika Srpska, which is one of the entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

"The European Union was clear with our partners: relations with Russia, with Putin's regime, cannot be normal, under the shadow of Russia's unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine," said Stano.

He also referred to the statement of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, who, after the meeting of EU foreign ministers, told Serbia that "maintaining close ties with Russia is not compatible with its accession process. in the EU and is harmful to the national interest of Serbia".

Alexander Vulin's visit to Moscow was revealed in the photos published by Russia Today Balkan, in the news of May 24.

The photo shows the head of the BIA and other participants of the conference, including Milorad Dodik.

Official information about Vulin's participation in the conference in Moscow was not published on the websites of the official institutions of Serbia.

The embassies of Ukraine and the United States of America in Belgrade criticized Vulin's participation in the conference in Moscow.

On May 10, the European Parliament adopted a resolution expressing concern over Vulin's appointment as head of the BIA. In the text of the resolution, Vulin is described as a person "known for his anti-EU and pro-Kremlin rhetoric"./ REL
