Justice convict Artan Tafani testified today at the Criminal Court regarding the criminal activity of Laert Haxhiu.

Artan Tafani has confessed to the murder of Çajup Selim, an event that occurred in Tepelena.

He said that he shot Selimi from behind three times at the entrance to his palace.

After the crime, he confessed that he fled towards Bënçe Prison and fell into a thorny bush along the way.

“After I arrived at the building where Çajupi lived, I stood near the entrance. I heard a car that looked like the one he used – a Benz. We were face to face. I was wearing a COVID mask and a hat. He looked at me suspiciously.

He entered the entrance and started to climb, to the first floor, then the second. I followed him. He was bald and I knew him well, even what he was wearing that day – a red T-shirt. I shot him from behind, three times. Once in the shoulder and two more times – I’m not sure where the bullets hit him.

"Then I ran away towards the Bënça Prison. On the way, I fell into some thorns, outside the city. I still had my weapon with me – a small Beretta, with a silencer. I was trying to find the path that would take me to the Vjosa River, where according to the plan Ligori would be waiting for me," Tafani said in his testimony./ CNA
