The elderly woman falls prey to fraud/ She gives 130 thousand euros to the woman

A 76-year-old woman in Greece has fallen prey to a scam. She reported to the Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmen police station that last Friday afternoon she received a call from a woman who told her she was a police officer.

The caller had told her that the daughter of the elderly woman had a car accident with a child, who had lost his life.

Pretending to be a police officer, she told him that in order to release the girl from prison, she had to pay 100,000 euros.

And the elderly woman, according to her confession, had put 100,000 euros in a bag and left it in a trash can outside her house, where a person had come and taken it.

The 76-year-old woman testified to the police that the unknown woman called her again and this time asked her for another 30,000 euros.

This time the old woman had put the money in a bag and left it outside a church.

But later, after giving 130,000 euros, she discovered that her daughter had not actually been involved in any accident and that she had fallen prey to a fraud./ CNA
