A serious criminal event is prevented in Lezha. The police have arrested the 48-year-old man from Pogradec with the initials AZ, who was traveling by taxi to Lezhë, as he had a firearm and a remote-controlled mine with him.

He was arrested at the place called "Shen Kolli Crossing".

Investigations continue for the complete disclosure of the purpose of the 48-year-old man's journey armed with firearms and mines, as well as the identification of the capture of the citizen/s who would collaborate in Lezha to commit a criminal event.

Police notification: 

Armed with a firearm and two remote-controlled mines, thanks to police intelligence, a serious criminal event is prevented.
The Coded Police Operation "Destination" was completed by the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Special Forces "Shqiponja" of DVP Lezhë.
The 48-year-old from Pogradec, traveling by taxi to Lezhë, was caught at the "Crossroads of Saint Kolli", Lezhë. Armed with firearms and remote-controlled mines.
Firearms, pistols, two remote control mines and military ammunition are seized.
After successive strikes in the framework of the "Rule of Law" mega-operation, based on police information that a citizen armed with a firearm and a remote-controlled mine was traveling to Lezha, the Narcotics Investigation Section of the DVP Lezha, in cooperation with the Special Forces of DVP "Shqiponja" Lezhë, organized and finalized the coded police operation "Destination".
During the operation, at the place called "Stenkoll Crossroads", Lezhë, the Police services stopped the taxi in which the passenger AZ was traveling

From the physical control of this citizen, the police found 1 firearm, pistol, cartridges, two mines with remote control and military ammunition.

At the end of the regular legal process, citizen AZ, 48 years old, resident of Pogradec, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition".

In cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, intensive work continues for the complete clarification of the purpose of the 48-year-old man's trip armed with firearms and mines, as well as the identification of the capture of the citizen/s who would collaborate in Lezha to commit criminal events.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Lezha for further actions./ CNA
