New details have emerged from the shooting attack that took place in Memaliaj yesterday evening, where 3 people were killed with a Kalashnikov and another was injured. 

It is suspected that the target of the assassination was Shyqyri Kalemi, the father of Andrea Kalemi. While the other two victims are the 36-year-old waiter, Gledio Muka, and the 47-year-old customer, Marsel Çela. The latter had nothing to do with the resemblance. 

Artur Kalemi, the uncle of Andrea Kalemi, who is in the hospital in serious condition, was injured. 

The event is suspected to be related to the saga of murders that started in 2022, with the explosive elimination of Aleksandër Sadikaj, who was Kalem's cousin. Likewise, there are doubts that the event may be related to the murder of businessman Edmond Papa. 

Andrea Kalemi is not an unknown name for local and foreign authorities. In 2001, he was declared wanted by the Belgian authorities, as he was accused of having killed the brothers Mevlan and Adriatik Çaça in collaboration with his brother Fatmir Kalemi.

In 2017, he was arrested in Tirana with 2 others after, being under the influence of alcohol, they opposed the police officer on duty, disrupting public order and peace. There are doubts that he is involved in the murder of Edmond Papa in December 2022. while he managed to escape two assassination attempts. 

How the assassination happened: 

For yesterday's assassination, the police seized the security cameras in the area, which will help to fully clarify the dynamics of the event, as well as may shed light on the identification of the perpetrators of this serious crime. So far, 3 people have been accompanied to the police. 

The perpetrators were inside a black car. One of them got out of the vehicle and fired shots at 74-year-old Shyqri Kalemi, who was sitting at a table outside the bar. The bullets hit the other 3 people, the two victims and one injured. 

According to the blue uniforms, the perpetrators immediately after the incident left quickly in the direction of Mallakastra with a vehicle which they allegedly burned in the village of Bejaj.

Controls for the capture of the perpetrators continue and in the city of Memaliaj and the surrounding area there are Renea Special Forces, National Security Forces as well as senior leaders of the General Directorate of the State Police. /CNA
