Zelensky: Russia has destroyed over a third of our energy sector

Russian missiles and Iranian-made drone strikes have destroyed over a third of Ukraine's energy sector, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during an Oct. 25 conference on Ukraine's reconstruction.

"Russia is destroying everything, so it is very difficult for us to get through the winter," Zelensky said as he addressed the conference in Berlin via video link.

The German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, as well as other senior officials participated in this conference.

Von der Leyen tha se sulmet ndaj infrastrukturës civile të Ukrainës përbëjnë “akt të pastër të terrorizimit”. Ajo tha se shkalla e shkatërrimit të Ukrainës është “tronditëse”, teksa Banka Botërore vlerëson se dëmi total ka arritur në 350 miliardë euro.

Presidentja e KE-së tha se duhet të lansohet një platformë koordinuese për rindërtimin e Ukrainës “sa më shpejt që të jetë e mundur, mundësi para fundit të vitit apo në fillim të vitit të ardhshëm”.

Gjatë konferencës, Scholz deklaroi se sulmet e vazhdueshme ruse me dronë paraqesin një pikë të re të ulët të luftës së Moskës kundër Ukrainës, por edhe një shenjë të dëshpërimit të Moskës.

Scholz tha se rindërtimi i Ukrainës është një “detyrë brezash” dhe duhet të nisë menjëherë, edhe kur po vazhdon pushtimi rus.

"This is about creating a new Marshall Plan for the 21st century — a generational task that must begin now," he said.

However, Zelensky said that Ukraine has not yet received "a single cent" for the rapid reconstruction plan, which is worth 17 billion dollars.

He also asked the international community to cover the budget deficit for next year, which is expected to be 38 billion dollars.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Communities and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, said that the reconstruction of Ukraine should start now, when the fighting is continuing./REL
