'Wall Street Journal': Israel set up secret base in Iraq to fight Iran

Israel set up a secret base in the Iraqi desert to support its campaign against Iran and launched airstrikes against Iraqi troops that almost discovered it, according to a report in the prestigious American media outlet 'Wall Street Journal'.

According to the article, Israel built the facility, which housed special forces and served as a logistics center for the Israeli Air Force, with the knowledge of the United States shortly before the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran.

It also included search and rescue teams, ready to assist Israeli pilots in the event their plane crashed.

Iraqi troops were sent to the scene to investigate the reports, but Israeli forces used airstrikes to keep them at bay and prevent the base from being discovered.
