Vance: US at war with nuclear program, not with Iran

US Vice President JD Vance made his statements regarding the US attacks on Iran, in a television appearance on the well-known American media outlet NBC.

Vance said the US wants to pursue a diplomatic process in Iran. He said the United States had successfully thwarted Iran's nuclear weapons program, adding that President Donald Trump now hopes to pursue a diplomatic solution.

"We don't want to prolong this or build more than what's already been built. We want to end their nuclear program," Vance said,

Vance shared the statements while speaking on NBC's "Meet the Press" with journalist Kristen Welker.

"We want to talk to the Iranians about a long-term solution here," Vance added.

Vance also told NBC that he did not believe the conflict with Iran would turn into a protracted war, said the US had no interest in sending further US troops to the Middle East and added that the US did not want to see regime change in Iran. /CNA
