Mass shooting in New York/ 3 dead and 9 injured, perpetrators on the run

The mass shooting at a nightclub in Brooklyn, New York, ended with 3 dead, 9 injured, and the suspected perpetrators on the run.

Multiple suspects opened fire around 3:30 a.m. at the Taste of the City lounge, located off Franklin Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed.

The victims ranged in age from 19 to 61. The youngest, a 19-year-old male, died at the scene. Two other men, ages 27 and 35, were pronounced dead at nearby hospitals in Brooklyn.

The commissioner initially reported that a total of 11 people were shot during the night's violence. In a press conference between top NYPD officials and Mayor Eric Adams, he urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

"We need your help. If you were inside the club, if you heard individuals talking about this shooting, if you witnessed someone fleeing the scene, any information will allow us to piece together the puzzle to solve this crime," said Mayor Adams.

The shooting began after an argument in the crowded club. Officers recovered at least 42 shell casings from the lobby, as well as a firearm that was discovered on a nearby street. So far, police investigators have not been able to directly link that weapon to the shooting at the nightclub. /CNA
