Plane crashes in lake/ At least 19 victims in Tanzania

At least 19 people have died after a Tanzanian plane crashed into Lake Victoria while attempting to land in the town of Bukoba.

According to the authorities, 23 of the 43 people who were on the plane survived and were taken to the hospital.

The two pilots survived the crash and spoke to local authorities from the cockpit, but authorities later said both may have died.

Rescue teams and local fishermen are trying to rescue people still trapped on the plane.

Bad weather was mentioned as the reason for the plane crash.

Part of the airport runway at Bukoba is close to the shores of Lake Victoria, once Africa's largest lake.
