USA calls Ukraine/ Encourages efforts to start talks with Russia

The United States is privately encouraging Ukraine to signal that it is open to negotiating with Russia, the American daily, the Washington Post, has reported.

The US State Department has said that Moscow is escalating the war and is not serious about engaging in peace talks.

The newspaper quoted its sources as saying that the request of American officials is not intended to push Ukraine to the negotiating table, but it is an attempt for Kiev to retain the support of other nations.
