The Specialized Prosecutor's Office conducts operations in Kosovo

The Office of the Specialized Prosecutor in The Hague said that it is conducting operations in Kosovo, which are being carried out with the support of the Kosovo police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX).

Hajredin Kuçi, a member of the defense team of the former superior of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Kadri Veseli, confirmed for Radio Free Europe that he was contacted by EULEX regarding his work.

He rejected the reports that his house was raided by EULEX, on the order of the ZPS on the morning of March 7.

"I contacted them directly, but there was no raid or anything," Kuçi said.

Kuçi, in the past, has held high state positions, including that of the Minister of Justice at the time when the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo voted in 2015 for the establishment of the Specialized Chambers in The Hague and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor, otherwise known as the Court Special.

On March 7, the media in Kosovo reported that they are raiding the house of Sylejman Selim, the former commander-in-chief of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

REL has addressed EULEX, but this institution has not yet returned an answer regarding this topic. In the Special Court, several trials are currently underway against the former senior superiors of the Kosovo Liberation Army. So far, the court has sentenced the former superior of the KLA, Salih Mustafa, to 22 years in prison for war crimes, and two former figures of the KLA Veterans Organization, Hysni Gucati and Nasim Haradinaj.

Among the ongoing trials is the one against Vesel, former Speaker of Parliament Jakup Krasniqi, former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, and former MP Rexhep Selimi. They are jointly indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity, charges they have denied.
