Indictment filed for the murder of Liridona Ademaj

The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has announced that the investigations into the murder case of Liridona Ademaj have been completed and indictments have already been filed against four people, a little more than a year after the murder of the 30-year-old.

Among those accused of her murder is her husband, Naim Murseli, with whom Liridona lived in Sweden and has two children. The other three accused are Kushtrim Kokalla, Granit Plava and Tom Dodaj.

The prosecutor in the case, Javorka Perlin?evi?, said she could not provide many details about the indictment, but added that, while living in Sweden, Liridona and Naimi had "turbulent marital relations", which resulted in property problems.

"You can learn the other reasons Naimi had for planning and committing this murder in court when the main hearing begins," said Perlincevic, who said finding the motive had made the process of filing the indictment take longer.

Meanwhile, at the conference held on this case, the Chief Prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, Zejnullah Gashi, said that this case was extremely sensitive and that investigations were conducted in many dimensions.

"This criminal offense is the criminal offense of aggravated murder committed by a family member and committed in a cunning manner, therefore, as such, we expect a capital punishment from the Court," said Gashi.

Liridona Ademaj was murdered at the age of 30, on November 29, 2023, on "Dalip Alshiqi" Street in Pristina.

Initially, the case was reported as a "robbery with consequences of murder", but two days later, on December 1, 2023, Kosovo Police announced that they had arrested two people in connection with the case. Among them was Liridona's husband, Naim Murseli.

The Basic Court in Pristina has several times extended the detention of the three suspects in her murder, Naim Murseli, Kushtrim Kokalla and Granit Plava - the last time on December 27 of last year.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had terminated the detention of the fourth suspect in this case, TD, allowing him to defend himself at liberty. He was arrested on December 9, on suspicion of having sold the weapon to the gunman.

Although justice authorities have not yet revealed the motive for this murder, it has received great attention.

Liridona's family had requested that her body be reburied near her parents' cemetery, while women's rights activists have requested that Liridona no longer be identified by her husband's last name, but by that of her family, Ademaj.

The fact that her husband had been part of the funeral ceremony had also caused great anger.

The murder case of the 30-year-old mother of two has been severely condemned in Kosovo, and the country's political leaders have demanded justice for her case.

From 2010 to now, around 60 women have been killed in Kosovo./REL
