Israeli Defense Minister: Khamenei cannot continue to exist

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday made the most direct threat to date against Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

Katz says the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been instructed that Khamenei "must not continue to exist," although he did not say there was a specific operation targeting the Iranian leader.

" A dictator like Khamenei, who leads a country like Iran and has made the destruction of Israel his mission, cannot continue to exist ," Katz said, according to the Associated Press.

"The IDF has been instructed and knows that, in order to achieve all of its goals, this man absolutely must not continue to exist," he added.

Katz's comments came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the public outside Soroka Hospital, which was hit by Iranian missiles on Thursday morning. Israel says more than 70 people inside the hospital were injured./ CNA
