Powerful earthquake in China/ The number of victims reaches 74, 26 people are still missing

Two days ago, China was hit by a strong earthquake. And while China has reopened roads leading to the epicenter of the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in southwestern Sichuan province and traffic has resumed, state media reported today that the death toll has risen to 74.

In addition, a total of 259 people were injured in the disaster and 26 remained missing as of Tuesday night, People's Daily reported.

The strongest earthquake to hit the province since 2017 destroyed many buildings and caused severe damage to power and water infrastructure, as well as telecommunications.

Crews reopened roads that had been closed and 11,000 residents were evacuated from their homes in Luding Canton, the epicenter of the earthquake./ CNA.al
