The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has asked the Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo to maintain peace and de-escalate the situation.

"I appeal to the Serbs in the north [of Kosovo] to be calm and not fall prey to provocations," he said after a meeting of the National Security Council of Serbia.

Vucic said that "appropriate measures have been taken for the protection of our homeland" and has given some orders, but did not specify more about them. He said that before "raising the alarm and increasing combat readiness", he will try "a million times" for maintaining peace.

Komentet vijnë derisa në veri të Kosovës, disa serbë lokalë ngritën barrikada dhe bllokuan rrugë qysh të shtunën pasdite. Ata morën këtë vendim pasi Policia e Kosovës arrestoi ish-zyrtarin serb të këtij institucioni, Dejan Pantiq, nën dyshimet se ka organizuar “sulm terrorist” në zyrat e Komisionit Qendror të Zgjedhjeve në veri të Kosovës.

Vuçiç tha se “është i tronditur me deklaratat e disa zyrtarëve evropianë që kanë bërë thirrje për largimin e barrikadave”.“Askush prej Beogradit nuk i ka urdhëruar barrikadat”, tha ai.Vuçiç porositi serbët në veri se sulmet mbi misionin e NATO-s në Kosovë, KFOR, dhe atë të BE-së, EULEX, “nuk guxojnë të ndodhin”.

Ai tha se ka marrë garanci nga KFOR-i dhe Evropa se “nuk do të ndërmarrin veprime të dhunshme kundër demonstruesve”.“Do të vazhdojmë të bisedojmë me ta”, tha Vuçiç.
