25 trades that "open doors" for a Spanish work visa in 2024

Like several EU countries, Spain is facing labor shortages in various industries, the latest report from the European Labor Authority has revealed.

Among the most affected sectors were healthcare, IT, manufacturing and agriculture, reports SchengenNews.

In addition, Spain's economy is facing an aging population, which, according to Eurostat forecasts, will grow further in the coming decades. More specifically, between 2023 and 2053, the ratio of the population over 66 to those 16-66 in Spain is expected to increase by 27 percent to nearly 54 percent.
