The "Aleksandër Moisiu" theater in Durrës is expected to undergo reconstruction in a project that will be implemented by the Durrës Municipality.

A procurement procedure opened by the latter in the system of the Public Procurement Agency foresees a contract object "Reconstruction of the Palace of Culture" with a limit fund of 496 million ALL or about 5 million euros.

In the architectural relation that accompanies this procedure, the interventions that will be carried out are also underlined. First of all, it is explained that the "Aleksandër Moisiu" theater is a 3-story building with a terrace, which is located in the North of "Liria" square, and the need for renovation is related to its current condition.

"This building serves as a key point of the city, playing an important role in the architectural silhouette of the city of Durrës. The theater has a capacity of 250 spectators, who are accommodated in 2 tables and 3 boxes.

In addition to the main hall of the theater, there are other spaces in the building which are in the function of the citizens and can have different uses in the function of art. "Currently in the building, in addition to various problems such as moisture or falling plaster, a reorganization of spaces is also required for optimal use of the building," the document states.

The purpose of this intervention is the retraining of the theater "Aleksandër Moisiu" and the spaces located in it. The identity of the building will not change, thus preserving its historical values ??and the urban identity of the surrounding area.

"With this project, we aim to create a multifunctional and innovative building, which responds to the wishes and needs of the community by stimulating the development of artistic and cultural activities. The project aims to stimulate social and economic growth through involvement in the construction of functions that are important on an urban scale," the report underlines. Specifically, the project aims to be

1- Theatrical center, aimed at training young dancers, musicians and singers, promoting the spread of musical and artistic culture in the city;

2- Community center, a place of experimentation available to citizens with spaces for collective use and services offered for the territory;

3- The core of the Arts exhibition, open to citizens for concerts, shows and exhibitions.

"The new building should be a reference point for citizens, usable for many uses that can alternate during the day and the week; a hybrid place, where cultural production, collective uses and service provision will coexist, in order to become a meeting point for citizens and an engine for the development of innovative practices.

The project aims to increase the capacity of the main hall, bringing the number of spectator seats to 360 seats. The intervention in the building will create suitable conditions for the access and movement of persons with disabilities (PWD). This means the presence of ramps or the design of spaces on one level, facilitating their movement", the document states./CNA
