Expenditures of heads of households with higher and secondary education decreased in 2022

2023-10-31 07:38:00, Ekonomi CNA

Educated people in our country are facing limited opportunities for income and career and this is worsening their economic situation.

The household budget survey by INSTAT showed that in 2022 families with a head of household with higher education spent less than in 2021.

This category spent an average of 107,233 ALL per month in 2022, from 10,208 ALL per month they spent in 2021 or about 2% less. In the conditions of an unusual inflation, where prices increased by an average of 6.7% last year, the heads of households with higher education faced a significant decrease in expenses by 2022 and, consequently, a further deterioration of their well-being.

Among household heads with secondary education, the decrease in expenses was even higher in 2022. A family in this education category spent an average of 85,416 ALL per month last year or 3.2% less than in 2021 (see the chart below).

The increase in expenses was significant for families without school and those with 8-9 years of education. According to INSTAT data, families with a head of household after no completed education level spent an average of 60,482 ALL per month in 2022 with an increase of 8.8 percent compared to 2021.

The increase in expenses was higher in families with heads of households with 8-9 years of education. This category spent an average of 85,416 ALL per month in 2022 or 13.7 percent more than in 2021.

The economic model that Albania has generates more opportunities for uneducated people.

Throughout the year 2022, but also in 2023, the minimum wage has increased at a faster rate than the average wage, driven by the government's decisions.

The labor market is generating ample supply of jobs in occupations that do not require qualifications. The development of tourism significantly increased the demand for cleaning workers, and on the other hand, in the construction sector, the demand for manual workers is high, causing the wages for this category to be often above the minimum level.

The increase in salaries in the private sector is being driven more by demographic developments that have created vital shortages for most activities than by development policies and productivity growth.

In 2022, average monthly consumption expenditures 4.5% higher than in 2021, but the increase was generated by households without education, as those with higher education marked a deterioration in 2022./ Monitor Magazine
