The municipality of Durrës intends to build an urban park that essentially transforms the life of the community in Spitalle. Recently, the winner of the procedure that has the task of designing this park in one of the areas that has gained significant development in recent years was also announced.

In the procedural documents, the Municipality argues what this urban park is expected to include, starting from pedestrian crossing lines and bicycle tracks to service areas.

"The project envisages the creation of a park that will consist of a pedestrian crossing line and a bicycle track, and the creation of stations with sports equipment for outdoor physical activities. In the park area, there should be areas dedicated to games for children, as well as areas for services. The objective of this project is the reconceptualization of public spaces along the road axis aiming at the generation of outdoor spaces that will promote life in the community and spaces dedicated to the residents of the area for various activities," the document states.

The municipality underlines that another important element of the project is the increase of biomass in the area, where it is foreseen the addition of high and low greenery along the path of the intervention and the creation of green pockets which will enable a suitable public space for the development of activities in the community.

"Along the track of the intervention, the construction of the bicycle lane is foreseen. This infrastructure simplifies access for residents. At the end of the investment, the residents of the area will have the opportunity to access a requalified public space that meets the needs for the development of a better quality of life. This intervention will have a positive impact by increasing social interaction in the community with safe and comfortable spaces for the mobility of all age groups in a green landscape and complete with suitable urban facilities," the City Hall documents state.

Regarding the goal, it is argued that interventions in this area are necessary in order for this project to: Regenerate the area both physically and from the urban and visual side; to provide better recreational conditions and opportunities for residents; to promote the development of recreational activities in the area through special recreational nodes; to increase the attendance of the area; to visually and functionally unify the area./ Monitor magazine
