Energy prices jumped on the stock market this week as well, forcing the Albanian Electric Corporation to cancel the procedure announced a few days ago for the purchase of 61,600 megawatt hours.

Today, one megawatt hour of energy in normal period costs 564 euros and goes to 616 euros in peak consumption hours.

The prices offered by the operators for KESH were around the value of 500 euros/megawatt hour. This would cost the corporation a bill of 30 million euros for just 6 days in August.

Currently, the entire supply of the country is made through the production of the Drin Cascade and private hydropower plants in Albania.

Të kontaktuar nga Euronews Albania, zyrtarë të KESH thanë se po përdoret rezerva hidrike në Fierzë, ndërsa mendohet që importet të rikthehen sërish në shtator, periudhë kur pritet një normalizim i çmimeve në bursa, ndërsa në vjeshtë parashikimet janë për sasi të bollshme reshjesh.

Niveli i Fierzës është ulur në 277 metra, duke rënë nën mesataren historike të periudhës. Vetëm përgjatë muajve të verës, rezerva hidrike është përgjysmuar ndërsa Fierza ka rënë me 20 metra, edhe pse KESH ka dashur të mbajë të paprekur sasinë në këtë basen.
