KESH signs 13.86 million euro contract for the construction of the Vau i

The floating solar plant in Vau e Dejës should start producing electricity next year, diversifying the generating sources of the Albanian Electric Power Corporation. This, referring to the terms of the contract signed between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and “SENA Solar Energy of Albania”, which is owned by KESH and the Chinese-Spanish joint venture Gamma – Sungrow. According to the details provided by the EBRD, the contract has a 3-year term, 2 of which include the operation and maintenance period.

The total cost for the design, construction and operation of this floating solar plant amounts to 13.86 million euros. According to KESH, the capacity of the plant will be 12.97 MWp and according to calculations, the expected production in the first year will reach 18,808 mWh, with an average production of 17,822 mWh/year throughout its life. Also, according to KESH, although floating photovoltaic plants are still considered a new technology, the plant's anchoring system will ensure normal operation even with fluctuations of up to 15 meters of water level and maximum wind resistance for the next 50 years.

The construction of the floating solar plant is one of KESH's projects, within the framework of diversifying energy production sources. This is in addition to the solar power plant in BELSH and the installation of photovoltaic panels on the Zadeja dam. Currently, the public energy production company owns only one solar plant of 5.14 MWp positioned on the Qyrsaqi dam, in Vau e Dejës, while the rest of the generation assets include 3 HPPs of the Drini Cascade and 2 floating TECs, positioned in Triport of Vlorë. / Kapital.al
