Saranda and Ksamili, two of the main tourist spots in the country are expected to have a new power substation that aims to solve the problems that can bring loads during the peak season.

The Directorate of High Voltage in OSSH sh.a opened this week a procurement procedure with a limit fund of 599 million ALL or about 6 million euros, which has as its object "Construction of the new Xarrë 110/20/10kV N/Station" . Referring to the documents that accompany the procedure, the reasons for this investment are also argued.

"Looking at the current state of the TM network of the coastal area from Saranda to Ksamil to Konispol and the problems with the supply of electricity in the busy periods of the summer season, in these tourist areas with a large flow of tourism, the construction of a N. The new station 110/20/10kV, 2 x 20/25MVA, in the area near the villages of Mursi - Xarë, in the municipality of Konispol in Saranda, serving the current conditions of electricity supply, but also the perspective of the entire coastal tourist area southern Ksamil - Livadhja - Konispol" the document states.

The report estimates that the coastal area from Saranda to the south in Ksamil, which is one of the most attractive tourist areas, with a very large number of tourists, is supplied with 10/20kV feeders from the 110/20kV N. Station of Saranda and that of Livadhja.

According to OSSH, the benefits from the construction of this N. Station will be:

-Increasing the security of electricity supply to about 14,000 family subscribers and businesses in the coastal tourist area.

- The development of tourism as an important economic part of the area's development.

– The ringing of the 10kV feeders that supply the coastal area of ??Ksamil, and increasing the security of supply for the areas from Livadhja to Konispol.

Under the trend of the growth of tourism, both regions are constantly expanding with new accommodation structures, something that brings as a need the increase of investments in energy to face the summer season without problems.

Saranda and Ksamili are two of the most promoted areas in terms of tourism, where in the last three years they have become the epicenter of international media and influencers. This brought with it a record attendance, especially last year, while this year this area faced a significant increase in prices, something that in total is estimated to have affected the summer season./Monitor
