Liabilities to the public distribution company reached at the end of this September the highest level recorded from 2009 onwards according to data published periodically by the Energy Regulatory Authority.

According to these indicators, the debts that four categories of clients have towards OSHEE were over 80 billion ALL or about 750 million euros. This figure was an increase of 0.26 percent in relation to the end of 2022. The progress of repayment of arrears has not been the same in trend in the four groups.

Family members who have more than half of the obligation continued to reduce it at the end of September 2023 compared to the end of last year. Thus, this level was 44.4 billion ALL or 414 million euros. This figure has decreased by 1.8 percent compared to the end of 2023.

Obligations from budgetary institutions have also had a downward trend, which reached a level of 4.7 billion ALL or about 44 million euros at the end of September. The reduction compared to the end of last year is at a level of 1.65 percent.

Meanwhile, two other groups have recorded an increase in unpaid obligations to the Electricity Distribution Operator. It is about businesses as well as non-budgetary institutions, which include city lighting companies, hospitals, and water supply.

Thus, as far as the non-budgetary debt is concerned, the debt reported until the end of this September is 18.8 billion lek or about 176 million euros. Compared to the end of last year, this debt results in an increase of 3.5 percent.

As for private individuals, including businesses, according to the data, their debt reached 12.1 billion ALL or about 114 million euros. This figure is an increase of about 4 percent compared to the end of 2022.

The outstanding debts to the public company have been in continuous fluctuations, decreasing and increasing year after year, but since 2018 and in the future, the upward trend has been constant.

As OSHEE applied the agreements to family members, an action plan for the settlement of obligations was also put into action for the water supply companies, who in any case in 2022 were in difficulties due to the energy crisis and the weight of the latter in their final expenses was high. ./ Monitor.al
