Murdered 52-year-old woman/ Court leaves perpetrator in prison

The court has imposed the measure "Arrest in prison" for 31-year-old Ilirjan Selmani, who killed 52-year-old Kozeta Teço.

Selmani murdered his 52-year-old partner by stabbing her to death and then set fire to the apartment where the victim lived. 

The 31-year-old denied the crime on the day of his arrest, while the investigation team has secured all the evidence that shows that the 31-year-old is the perpetrator of the murder of the 52-year-old.

"First of all, I want to express my condolences to the victim, regardless of whether or not the perpetrator of the criminal offense is protected by me, but as a citizen of Pogradec, I express my condolences to the family for her loss.

My client has never admitted to committing the crime, neither to the police nor in court, nor during the entire interrogation process. He has maintained a stance that is consistent with his personality, that he is a very good guy and that he could never commit such a serious crime.

He also did not admit the fact of cohabitation with the victim. He admitted that there was an acquaintance, an acquaintance in the true sense of the word, that is, a social acquaintance or any other kind of acquaintance, but not cohabitation. Cohabitation also refers to the law and the definitions made in the family code on how cohabitation is structured, we are certainly not cases of cohabitation.

The prosecution has presented a series of evidence to preserve the confidentiality of this investigation. We do not comment on this evidence provided by the police at this time, but with conviction we, as the defense, declare before you that there is no evidence and reasonable suspicion based on evidence to defend me as the author of this criminal offense. This is our conviction at this time.

He has not at any time admitted to the crime charged against him. He has also expressed his condolences for the victim, saying he was shocked by the news he received about her.
