Tourism, foreigners "flood" to Albania, overnight stays in hotels

Foreigners have continued to show interest in touristic Albania with an even more pronounced trend in April.

The data of accommodation structures published by INSTAT show that the number of total visitors has increased by 62.0%, compared to April 2023. Night-stays in hotels increased in April by more than 74.5 percent.

"The following two indicators follow the same trend: the number of resident visitors has increased by 19.4%; the number of non-resident visitors increased by 91.9%", the publication states.

Meanwhile, the total number of net-stays has increased by 56.3%, compared to April 2023. The following two indicators also follow the same trend: the number of net-stays by residents has increased by 17.9%; the number of overnight stays by non-residents has increased by 80.3%.

"During the month of April 2024, there was an increase in the total number of visitors by 62.0%, compared to April 2023. The number of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in the Center Region increased by 2.1 times. In non-coastal areas, this indicator has increased by 85.4%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of non-resident visitors in "Hotels and similar accommodation" has increased by 85.6%", states the publication of INSTAT.

But which regions have had the highest number of visitors? According to April data, the center region had 63.3 percent of them. If we calculate the proximity to the coast in non-coastal areas, this part held 59 percent of them. According to the type of accommodation structure where they stayed in "Hotels and similar accommodations" were 92.6%.

"During the month of April 2024, the total number of overnight stays increased by 56.3%, compared to the month of April 2023. The number of overnight stays of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in the Central Region increased by 86.8% . In non-coastal areas, this indicator has increased by 77.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of night stays of non-resident visitors who have been accommodated in "Hotels and similar accommodations" has increased by 74.5%", the publication states.

The same estimates that in April 2024, the highest number of overnight stays was realized: according to regions in the "Center Region" (65.3%); according to areas of proximity to the coast in "Non-migratory areas" (59.3%); according to the type of accommodation structures in "Hotels and similar accommodation" (91.9%).
