A few months ago, the government approved a normative act for the management of waste water from businesses, which are located in tourist areas, on the coast, the lake and near rivers. The normative act aims to solve the problem of wastewater, while it has been decided that the entities must install water treatment plants, otherwise they will face high fines.

Some representatives of businesses in Pogradec, yesterday afternoon, gathered to discuss this normative act opposing the establishment of plants for the processing of polluted water. According to them, the city of Pogradec has a plant, which handles the waste water of private businesses as well.

"Today they were probably the most sensitized, because there was also an effect of penalization by the state structures for this process and this makes the problem more evident. Because, the problem does not exist, Pogradeci does not have this problem, or rather let the instances be We ask that Pogradec not become part of all legality in the whole country.

It's a problem solved in this city. Some businesses have been penalized, with figures that businesses in Pogradec cannot afford. It goes to 1.5 million new lek. We ask for understanding from all the institutions, we will send them a letter to look specifically at the issue of Pogradec, because it is a solved problem. If we don't get along, we will react by boycotting customer service, especially since we are waiting for the tourist season."

Business representatives say that the price to install these plants is unaffordable for them, as they start from 13 thousand euros to 100 thousand euros depending on the capacities. On the other hand, they say that in the normative act it is about businesses whose waters go directly into the lake, while in Pogradec they are poured into the sewers.

"Our area, Pogradeci, and Buçimas Administrative Unit have a plant, with a collector made and the capacity continues, the progressive growth of the population has been taken into account, etc. We think that the plant has the capacity for another 50 years. We must sit down let's talk, where is the pollution? We who throw them into the network, pay taxes, duties, everything. Why should we do it?

We are not against this initiative, it should have been done in time as Pogradeci did with the Administrative Unit. Without question, the one who pours it into rivers and lakes, we cannot accept it, we cannot say that it should not be done. We opposed it, we also held hearings with the municipality. Now we are forced to make this move. We will not fight with the state, but there must be a reaction. How do we solve it? Are we for each other? We pay taxes, let's solve it, but not like this."

In this meeting, the businesses decided to address the ministry with a request for the repeal of this normative act for the Pogradec area. Also, in the request, they emphasized the cancellation of the fines which have started to be imposed and reach the value of up to 10 million ALL. If their demands are not met, businesses will be closed in protest.

"There has been a normative act of the government, it has been considered a national emergency to place plants near tourism hotel premises for the part of the discharge of polluted water into seas, lakes, rivers. This normative act has also mentioned Pogradec, but we want to explain that we are in a completely different situation.

In Pogradec, a very good investment has been made by the German KFV for 20 years, where all the flows that will be there from business and family for all the coming years have been taken into account. Currently the plant is not at its full capacity, it copes with this flow the best and there is no need for the businesses that are connected to the collector, mainly in Pogradec and Buçimas Administrative Unit, to have other additional plants.

Secondly, investments in the part of the collector are also being made in Lin and in the Udënisht Administrative Unit, and very soon they will also be disconnected from the discharge into the lake. We think that this should not be done, why should we pay taxes twice, we pay them. The local government and Ujjejellas Kanalizime Sh.A tax every business here for the removal of sewage.

They don't have to buy the plant, pay certain costs and pay the water supply. There can be no double taxation for a service. It definitely increases business costs, because as a plant it has a relatively high cost. They vary from 16 thousand euros to 100 thousand euros from the capacity of the business. Such an immediate cost for the businesses of Pogradec is very heavy."

There are about 120 operating businesses in the Pogradec area. Most of them find it impossible to install the plant, which for them is of a very high cost, taking into account the fact that according to them, the situation is normal since the polluted water goes into the sewers and not into the lake waters. / CNA
