With the arrivals of foreign citizens that have increased by over 30% this year, the tourist season this year is expected to set a new record.

However, all units related to tourism are expected to be under strict tax control, including units that are rented out through Booking or Airbnb.

The Tax Administration has notified the subjects that it is undertaking a risk management project in the Tourism Sector (accommodation structures, bar-restaurants, agritourism, beach services, city and intercity transport, car/premises rental, etc.), with the aim of raising awareness taxpayers for real and timely declaration of tax obligations.

"Given that you have benefited from the fiscal facilities granted by the Albanian government for this sector, through the application of the reduced VAT rate of 6% for accommodation structures, and in most of these activities the tax-profit rate is 0 until turnover 14,000,000 ALL, We invite you to be compliant by respecting the legal provisions in truthfully declaring your income", says the tax announcement.

The tax administration has data obtained from self-declared fiscalized statements and invoices, what suppliers declare supplies of goods and services, data from third parties such as state agencies and international platforms including Booking, AirBNB, Google, etc.

The Tax Administration urges the subjects to fulfill the obligation regarding:

· For each sale made by you, the issuance of fiscalized invoices with NIVF/ NSLF

· Declaration of each employee and their real salary according to occupations

· The purchase of any goods with a regular tax invoice

· Accurate declaration of data in the Taxpayer's register

· Correct declaration of premises rental contracts

· Using only certified fiscalization software

Failure to comply with the above points and any non-compliance behavior with the purpose of not registering for VAT that is noticed in the TA analysis, categorizes you as a subject with risk, against which verification and monitoring actions are undertaken on the spot by the monitoring and verification structures in the field , it is written in the tax notice./ Monitor
