SPAK takes the employee of Tirana Municipality as a defendant/ He took money to hire

SPAK has asked the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime to take as a defendant the citizen Erjon Buçuku, who is in charge of the Human Resources Sector of the General Directorate of Public Facilities in the Municipality of Tirana.

According to SPAK, the official is accused of having demanded the sum of 250,000 ALL from citizens Gerald Bregu and his fiancee to hire them as guards at the 9-year-old school "Ardian Klosi" and as sanitary workers at the "Mihal Grameno" school in Tirana.

Buçuk is charged with the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions".

The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime conducted investigations within the framework of criminal proceedings no. 124 of 2023 and at the end of them on 24.07.2023 it was addressed to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with request to send the case for trial to the charge of the defendant:

• Erjon Buçuku, accused of committing the criminal offense "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", provided for by Article 259/2 of the Criminal Code.

On 23.05.2023, in the investigative program "STOP" of the national television "Klan", video/audio footage of the corrupt actions of the defendant Erjon Buçuku, in charge of the Human Resources Sector of the General Directorate of Facilities, were broadcast. Public in Tirana Municipality. The transmission of these images also served as an indication for the beginning of the investigation of this criminal proceeding.

From the comprehensive and objective investigation of this proceeding, it has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt that the defendant Erjon Buçuku, in charge of the Human Resources Sector of the General Directorate of Public Facilities in the Municipality of Tirana, has improperly benefited from the monetary value of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) lek, to employ the citizen Geraldi Bregu, as a guard of the 9-year-old school "Ardian Klosi", Tirana, as well as requested an irregular benefit from the citizen Geraldi Bregu in the monetary value of 150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand) lek, to hire his fiancee as a sanitary worker at the "Mihal Grameno" school in Tirana, but the citizen Geraldi Bregu did not give her this monetary value.

The investigative actions of this criminal proceeding were carried out by the investigators of the National Bureau of Investigation under the direction and control of the Special Prosecutor.
