The National Environment Agency has published a report where it has ranked the beaches with the best quality in our country and has announced the level of cleanliness on the beaches.

According to the report, most beaches in Albania appear to have clean water.

The beaches with the best quality of water for bathing on the Adriatic coast are those of Shengjin, Velipoja, Tale, Spitalla, Seman, Darzeza and Divjaka.

The report states that 100% of coastal waters on these beaches throughout 2022 had excellent quality.

As for the waters of the Ionian coast, the report shows that:

The completely clean beaches are those of Palasa, Zvrnec, Dhërmi, Drimadhe, Jala, Livadhe, Qeparoi, Borsh and Lukova. No station with bad water quality has been found on the coast of these beaches.

It is said that 67.5% of beach stations in Albania in 2022 had excellent bathing water quality, 19.5% good quality, 4.1% sufficient quality, while 8.9% bad quality.

Compared to 2021, the number of beach stations with very good quality has increased, while those with poor quality has decreased.

In the report of the National Environment Agency, it is stated that immediate measures should be taken to improve the water quality at 11 beach stations.

Specifically, 50% of Saranda beach stations, 33% of Ksamil beach stations, 20% of Vlora beaches and 14% of Durrës beaches are of poor quality.

The activity of the residents of the area but also of the visitors as well as the discharge of untreated urban water have affected the quality of the water./ CNA
