The decision taken by the government regarding the scholarship of 40,000 lek for students who will choose priority programs in universities, has also been implemented in Fan Noli University of Korça. The main criterion for the benefit of this scholarship is the average above 8.5, while the priority programs are the branches of agriculture, tourism, social sciences and scientific ones. Regarding this decision, the vice-rector of the University of Korça, Artur Adili, has shown that in the applications made by the students, only 109 of them have been accepted to benefit from the scholarship.
"The University of Korça has 11 priority programs, in which about 150 students are enrolled. These are priority programs such as Language-Literature, Mathematics-Physics, all bachelor programs of the Faculty of Agriculture and Tourism-Hospitality. From the total number of students who have applied, 109 applications have been reviewed while others have been disqualified due to not meeting the criteria, mainly the average. The quotas that the national higher education funding agency has set for Fan Noli University are 24, and it is a relatively large number compared to the universities of other regions", said the vice-rector Artur Adili.
Further, Adili adds that the University of Korça has a large number of quotas compared to other universities.
"The quotas set by the national higher education funding agency for Fan Noli University are 24, and it is a relatively large number compared to universities in other regions. The University of Tirana has 25 quotas, while Korça has 24 quotas. The distribution of quotas was made by the academic senate, having the average as the main criterion, the first to benefit are those with an average above 8.5, while the rest that remained outside this average was divided in a professional manner between the faculties", he says.
As for the students who applied, but could not benefit from the scholarship, they will pay the registration fee of 20,000 ALL. The opposing reaction seems to have been very low, while there were no departures or deregistrations of students who did not benefit from the scholarship.
"One of the programs that has benefited the most is that of Bio-Chemistry where applicants have averaged over 9. For students who applied but could not get a scholarship due to not meeting the criteria, they will pay the registration fee of 20 thousand lek (new)", he said./ CNA
