Balluk's suspension/ Government against GJKKO, today's

The Constitutional Court is reviewing today the government's appeal regarding the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. Facing each other in today's session will be the government and the Constitutional Court.

The court session is expected to start at 10:00 and will be chaired by Judge Sandër Beci. At the center of the hearing is the appeal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who is seeking the annulment of the decision of the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime to suspend Balluk from public office.

According to the government, the GJKKO decision exceeded constitutional powers and violated the principle of separation of powers, while the GJKKO defends the legality of the measure as necessary to guarantee the criminal process.

Due to the importance of the case, the Constitutional Court has also summoned representatives of the Special Court, the Assembly of Albania and the Presidency, in the capacity of interested parties./ CNA
