The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, has reacted regarding the interruption of electricity in a large part of the country.

In a statement to the media, Balluku said that this problem was created due to high temperatures.

She stated that a more in-depth technical analysis will be done. The Minister of Energy emphasized that electricity has currently been recovered.

"I am in this public communication to inform you about a critical situation that we faced a few hours ago, regarding the electricity transmission system in our country. Starting from the interconnection line between Albania and Greece, which had a breakdown and then in a cascade effect the whole country, we had disconnection of electricity throughout Albania. On the other hand, we have been informed by other broadcasting operators in our region that the same situation has also happened in Montenegro and partially in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From the first analysis, but of course we have to take our time to do an in-depth technical analysis, it turns out that the large volumes in the transmission systems at these moments, but also the very high temperatures at record levels, have created this kind of problem technical.

It must be said that from the good work that was done in the field by all the specialists, engineers, technicians of the OST, we managed to recover all the distribution of electricity through the transmission lines at the national level within 30 minutes, while Tirana was recovered in just 17 minutes.

Despite the fact that the whole country is now supplied with electricity, it must be said that we continue to be in a high-risk area, since the transmission volumes in the interconnection lines are very large at these moments and, on the other hand, the temperatures will be such, at record levels even in the following days. It must be said that we are in constant communication with all the other broadcasting operators in the region to coordinate the work with them and of course we will continue to do the proper technical analysis to find the problem and keep the network safe", he underlined.
