This Monday, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the 4iG company, for the construction of a direct underwater cable line between Albania and Egypt.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, described the construction of the line as a strategic and innovative project.

According to her, this project turns Albania into a node of intercontinental interconnection.

"As the first system connecting the two countries, the planned route of underwater lines in the Mediterranean will be unique by adding to the diversity of digital routes that connect the Mediterranean in a traditional way such as those connecting Egypt to France, to Italy, thus giving a third possibility. This system will own a significant part of the large market and the development of data traffic between Asia, the Middle East and undoubtedly Europe", Minister Balluku explained in her speech, as she said, among other things, that the investment is valued at the value of 100 to 115 million euros.

The minister warned that the project will be another success.

"These projects that we have developed and the new ones, like the one between Albania and Egypt today, will be another success of the series. This is because of the seriousness of the project", said Balluku./ CNA
