The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has submitted today to the Special Court the request for the replacement of the security measure "prison arrest". Meta's request will be reviewed by Judge Irena Gjoka.
The leader of the PL has been in prison since October 2024, while claiming in his requests that the conditions for continuing detention do not exist.
In August last year, SPAK sent Meta and his ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, to trial, facing charges of corruption, money laundering, and concealment of assets.
We recall that Fatime Kryemadhi, the mother of Monika Kryemadhi and Ema Çoku, has also been brought to trial under suspicion of money laundering. Meanwhile, Pirro Xhixho faces charges of passive corruption of high-ranking officials committed in collaboration. /CNA
