Ready for a photo?/ Tupja: Don't say "cheese" but "gize"

Professor Edmond Tupja, who has raised the alarm about the disappearance of the Albanian language due to the increasing number of borrowings from foreign languages, brought to attention a word that we all use very simply.

It's about "cheese", a term we use before taking pictures, since its pronunciation brings the lips into a smiling position. Tupja says that this word can easily be replaced with giza, an Albanian word that performs the same function.

"I notice, now it is said I ascertain, that more and more foreign words are being used where Albanian has its own words, that foreign words will enter. It has become fashionable now," Tupja asserted.
