This Tuesday, Archbishop Joan presided over the celebration of the birth of Saint John the Baptist. The Holy Mass was held at the "Annunciation of the Theotokos" Orthodox Church in Tirana.

“John is the last and greatest prophet, because he not only foretold the coming of the Messiah, but forgave him from the time they were both in the embryo. He showed him as the redeemer, so that his followers followed him as apostles, despite his opposition. He baptized him and the Holy Trinity appeared. He was prophesied as the second Elijah. A model of monks, he went out into the wilderness of the Jordan River, wore hairy clothes, ate honey and locusts. He acted publicly in the year 29 AD, like a voice crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord.”
