With the common goal of strongly promoting road education through knowledge and materials certified according to international standards, the Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Evis Kushi and the Director of the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, Mr. Blendi Gonxhja signed the joint agreement for the design and unified implementation of the new Road Safety Education curriculum in pre-university education.

Since 2019, DPSHTRR has organized 142 events in 25 cities with around 7,976 participating children, but now thanks to this agreement this cooperation will be officially extended to teaching curricula, with dedicated chapters on road safety and new texts fully in line with European practices in all schools, up to 18 years old.

In addition to the teaching curricula for the students, training and resource materials will be provided to help the training of the teachers of the education system. This cooperation is based on the amendments to the Road Code, proposed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, on the unification and homologation of training manuals, the role of DPSHTRR, as well as the strategic interest in increasing road and public safety, with the objective of traffic culture and safe mobility.

The new agreement will bring innovations in methodology and didactics, digital classrooms and simulators, online applications and activities designed according to age groups. The aim is to prepare the individual as a road user, vehicle, passenger, pedestrian, pedaler and driver, from an early age according to the best international practices, for a reality where today the motorization of society has doubled since 2013, going to around 300 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants, or +86%, with a current growth trend projection of about 50,000 road vehicles per year./ CNA.al
