Christian believers celebrate the last week of Christ's life, officially called Passion Week, or as it is otherwise known as "Easter Holy Week."

Each day of Holy Week has its own special theme. Holy Week begins on April 13 and ends on April 20.

Today is Holy Wednesday - The Anointing of the Feet of the Lord Christ

On Holy Wednesday we commemorate the anointing of the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ with ointment by the leper. We also commemorate the gathering of the Jews to accuse the Lord Christ through His disciple, Judas Iscariot.

Two days before the Passover, when Christ had gone to Jerusalem, and was at the house of Simon the leper, a poor woman came to him and washed Christ's feet with expensive myrrh and wiped them with her hair. Myrrh had a wonderful aroma and the price of myrrh was very expensive, about 30 denarii. The disciples were amazed at this, especially Judas.

The apostles also knew how much zeal Christ had for alms to the poor. This woman anointed Christ's feet with myrrh for the forgiveness of sins, and the mighty God absolved her of her many sins after the act of repentance./ CNA
